This year’s Parachute Market, the fifth of its kind, will take place in Los Angeles at venue One Santa Fe, on June 6 and 7. This year's theme, "Ad Hoc," is inspired by temporary marketplaces and the spirit of spontaneity, and invites designers to showcase their work in a temporary experimental show space. Some of this year's notable names include Please Do Not Enter, Nickey Kehoe, Gulla Jonsdottir, MMaterial, Reform Gallery, TheWindow, Gray Gallery, Knibb Design, Matin and Welcome Projects.
“This season’s Parachute Market will embrace the spirit of the ‘happening’,” says Parachute Market Founder and Art Director Coryander Friend. “It is our hope that intention, artistic urgency and an energetic, ephemeral presence will coalesce into a spontaneously occurring communal and interactive moment.”

The fair’s theme will also be explored in a DIEM talk, presented by the West Hollywood Design District, on "'Mad for Markets? Is the Temporary Fair a Permanent Fixture in Retailing Today?" with Frances Anderton, host of KCRW's “DnA: Design and Architecture,” Darren Gold, pop-up curator and retail consultant; Gerard O’Brien, owner and curator of Reform Gallery and The Landing; and Friend. June 5's preview party will grant guests exclusive access and a 10 percent discount on the fair's wares, plus a live performance by Grammy-nominated pianist, arranger and composer Alfredo Rodriguez and a screening of Synesthesia, a collaboration between Rodriquez and painter Henry Taylor.
As the fair’s co-curator Mallery Roberts Morgan says, “We’ve gathered a fabulous mix of established and emerging talent. Add the incredible venue of One Santa Fe and the creative art direction of Coryander Friend and you’ve got a uniquely ‘made in Los Angeles’ design fair.”
