‘Legends’ show celebrates Vladimir Kagan, emerging talent
Jun 3, 2016

“Legends and Visionaries,” a Ralph Pucci International exhibit, opened in New York on May 16, honoring the work of design legends Jens Risom and the recently departed Vladimir Kagan, alongside emerging visionaries including India Mahdavi, John Wigmore, David Nosanchuk, Chris Lehrecke and Johnny Poux.

“I would describe the show as somewhat unexpected and surprising,” shares Ralph Pucci. “First, we are celebrating many things in the ‘Legends and Visionaries’ exhibit: Vladimir Kagan’s last masterpiece—the Gabriella chair in Bronze, and Jens Risom’s 100 extraordinary years. We also celebrate the 20th anniversary of Chris Lehrecke and Johnny Poux’s premiere at Ralph Pucci International.”

“Lehrecke’s furniture designs are environmentally inspired by the soft and austere coastal landscape of the Isle of Skye, while David Nosanchuk created a powerful wallpaper installation inspired by Bernini’s Colonnade at St. Peter’s church in Rome,” Pucci continues. “Minimal light sculptures from John Wigmore are scattered throughout the show and even find peace next to the surreal sculptures of John Koga. Gallery Nine moved from the sacred minimal white box to an explosion of color from India Mahdavi. Who would have thought that work by such diverse talent can live in unison and harmony? I think we achieved that challenge in this show.”
