German lighting designer Ingo Maurer has been invited to curate the second international EcoDesign exhibition, held in conjunction with Helsinki's Habitare in September 2010, which will present--for the first time--approximately 80 unique, ecological lights specially designed for the exhibition. Ingo Maurer (b. 1932), maestro of light and winner of several design awards, made his breakthrough with the table light “Bulb” back in 1966. His designs are always both technically intelligent and visually intriguing. In addition to lights, Maurer has designed light installations and lighting for public spaces, and held several exhibitions. Ingo Maurer will invite top international designers and young talents from Finland and abroad to take part in the EcoDesign special exhibition. New design and sustainable development form an interesting foundation for the designers’ visions of a more ecological tomorrow. The EcoDesign special exhibition is produced by Advertising Agency Valo and organised by the Finnish Fair Corporation. The first EcoDesign special exhibition, held in September 2009 in conjunction with Habitare, showcased unique ecological chairs by over 80 designers from 16 different countries. Some of those chairs are currently on display on the premises of Design Forum in Helsinki, Finland, and in the Helsinki Madrid FinDesign exhibition in Madrid, Spain. In addition, Habitare will feature a new lighting and lighting industry event, "Light." Targeted specially at lighting industry professionals, the event will present general lighting and lighting for public spaces, lighting for the home and decorative purposes, lamps and other sources of light, as well as outdoor lighting and lighting supplies.
