Decorative arts dealer Liz O'Brien announces the formation of a new partnership with her former client, Michael Raynes. The new company, based in New York, will operate under the same name, and debut a high-end furniture and accessories collection, Liz O'Brien Editions, in early October of this year.
O'Brien opened her first gallery in 1993 and has been a leader in establishing the market for mid-century design. Editions is a collection of carefully selected designs which have been created and produced with the intent to offer a refreshing alternative to the style-conscious customer. By bridging the gap between historical design and contemporary interiors, Editions will bring an exciting new take on the upscale furniture market.
“The debut of this collection is a natural next step for me. It has been a dream of mine to make these tried and true classics accessible to a broader audience,” said O’Brien.
Raynes, who trained as a lawyer, worked for 15 years as a banker at Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and Citigroup. Originally a client of O’Brien’s, Raynes has a strong respect for her business acumen and her sophisticated view of the decorative arts.
"I have always been an avid admirer of Liz's keen eye for great design and I am excited about working together on our new furniture and accessories collection,” said Raynes.
