Each year the designs provide a look at contemporary concerns in the design world. A theme seen in the 2015 nominations is a desire for new technologies to solve old problems, reflected in projects such as the first lab for 3d printing prosthetic limbs and Google’s self-driving car. Unique combinations of beauty and utility are also prevalent, such as Paul Cocksedge Studio’s Double O bike, Marjan Van Aubel’s phone charging Current Table and a billboard that can improve air quality.
