The emphasis for the month is on bringing together diverse professional and public-interest groups, including AIA Los Angeles and a host of participating organizations, to celebrate the built environment and bring awareness to the importance of design to the community at large.
The theme for this year is Designing Healthier Lifestyles and will include a symposium and a host of other events. Architecture Month events will educate the public about architecture and architects, celebrate the profession and encourage the dialogue between those interested in the built environment.
A sampling of events include: The Architecture of Los Angeles - Through the Lens of Luke Gibson; An Afternoon Reception to Support Torie Osborn; Fashioning Apollo: Design, Tech & the Evolution of the American Space Suit; AIA|LA & The Department of City Planning: Working Together to Build Better Communities; a symposium about improving the health impacts of the built environment; Preserving Lautner's Legacy: The Spectrum of Stewardship; Curse and Vision: The Future of Westwood Village; Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) Masquerade Ball; Fall 2011 Home Tour; and Design Awards Party presented by Italian Living|Umbria.
