Dec 19, 2016

Interior designer Mark D. Sikes has partnered with the owners of a historic, midcentury hotel property in Palm Springs, California. Called Holiday House, the hotel will be entirely renovated, outfitted with new bathrooms with Waterworks fixtures, a new lobby bar, and two outdoor fire pits, and designed with Sikes’s characteristic blues and whites.

Other features of the design include modern lighting, Gio Ponti tiles, midcentury wicker and walnut accents, as well as a number of art pieces including Sultan sculptures by the pool, Alex Katz in the lobby and works by John Baldessari, Harland Miller, David Hockney, Liechtenstein, George Braque, Adam Fuss, Mr. Brainwash, Annie Leibovitz, Herb Ritz and Sean Scully.

The hotel, which was originally designed by Herbert Burns in 1951, will feature many of the architect’s original design elements.
