Michelle Wiebe, interior designer and president of Interiors by Studio M, won this year’s High Point Market Style Spotter competition by receiving the most “likes” through re-pins on her Pinterest board of products and trends from the fall market.
This reporter caught up with Wiebe, who shared her thoughts on trends, showrooms, products and collections from this year’s market.
"Each market has its own storyline, tone and pizzazz, so October was different from April’s market that I also style spotted,” she said. “Of course, October ushers in with the changing of the leaves, so thus cozier interiors are showcased. One of the overall styles this market was the ‘Menswear goes Global’ trend, which depicts the sharp dressed man translated into male inspired interiors.”
The vignette she liked most in this style was Bernhardt’s Razor Sharp Collection “with its moody dark hides, brass detailing, and overall GQ chic-ness!”

Her favorite showrooms were Bernhardt, Century Furniture and Christopher Guy. (It didn’t hurt that she was chauffeured in a Rolls Royce to the Christopher Guy showroom.)
“One of my favorite products was the Brabbu ‘Sequoia cocktail table’ which represents a trend I saw at this market that I call ‘Organic Glamour.’ Another fun piece from this trend, and one of my all time favorite chandeliers, is the exquisite ‘Eclipse Agate Chandelier’ by Emporium Home; I love everything about it. The ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ chair by Anna Cordeiro for Caracole displays the fun ‘Color Block’ trend that is prevalent on both fashion’s couture runways, along with home furnishings at High Point Market. Also, Cordeiro was a true delight to meet. She was inspired to create happy furniture for happy interiors, which she did with this collection.”

The collection that most resonated with her was Stanley Furniture’s Heritage Collection, which featured the company’s own pieces that had been lovingly restored from the 1950s and 60s. “Each piece was gorgeous, and I would have loved to have bought all of them! I hope that they will continue to do this in future markets, and even introduce a new line of new furniture based on these midcentury classics.”
What is Weibe looking forward to next spring (April 5 – 10) at Market? Fresh color combinations, new styles, and more out-of-the-box thinking by manufacturers.
“And as with each market, I look forward to seeing new inspirations, in both furnishings and new friends!” she said.
