Mexican collection Luteca debuts with Suite NY
Oct 26, 2015

Suite NY has introduced the latest addition to its showroom: Luteca, a contemporary furniture manufacturer focused on midcentury design and craftsmanship from Mexico and Sweden. Founded by husband-and-wife team Sebastian Reant and Amanda Price Reant and Swedish-Mexican designer Alexander Andersson, the new brand meshes Modernist aesthetics with Mexican handcraft. Each of the pieces is made by hand in Mexico City. The collection’s designs were provided by both contemporary designer Andersson and the late Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez.

Vázquez, who was known for his minimalistic style, supplied creative designs that integrated sustainable architecture and industrial elements. A number of his previously unseen prototypes from the 1970s are now making an appearance in the Luteca collection. Among his pieces are the 1964 Equipal chair and a series of occasional tables created from bent sheet steel. The designs came to life in the hands of Andersson, Luteca’s creative director, who also created his own pieces for the collection.

Suite NY is the exclusive to-the-trade New York showroom for Luteca.
