Over twenty new stores and showrooms have opened across the country and abroad in design centers and on the street this season. This list is part of an ongoing series of showroom openings highlighting many new resources available by region to designers.
New York City
George Smith has opened a new design warehouse in Long Island City, Queens (47-09 30th Street), which features a wide range of furniture and accessories including sofas, chairs, lighting, mirrors, vintage pieces and art.
Italian manufacturer of high-end professional cookware and décor, Baldassare Agnelli, has opened a NYC showroom (126 5th Ave, 10th Floor) which integrates Italian food, design and style under one roof.
Grace & Favor, which inhabits an old carriage house at 168 N 1st Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, offers furniture, lighting, wall coverings, art and accessories from some of the UK's best-known designers, curated by London-born designer Andrea Brooke.
Farrow & Ball has opened its newest showroom in the Flatiron district at 32 East 22nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. The showroom will offer the full range of paints, as well as a prominent display of handcrafted wallpapers.
For the past several months, visitors to the D&D Building have awaited the opening of the new Brunschwig & Fils showroom, the company’s largest worldwide. This showroom has now reopened with a fresh look and expanded offerings to better service the needs of the greater New York interior design community. Interior designer Michael Smith, and Brunschwig & Fils’ executive VP, creative director Stephen Elrod, collaborated on the redesign.
Interior designer Jamie Herzlinger has opened her first flagship showroom in the New York Design Center (NYDC). It includes her signature custom furniture line, along with a curated collection of her favorite resources such as antiques from Linda Horn and Milord Antiques, period lighting by Carlos de la Puente, and handmade wall coverings by Studio E.
Also in the NYDC, CF Modern, a mid-century inspired American-made custom furniture collection founded by Irwin Feld and Steve Cassler, has expanded its business to include a showroom on the fourth floor.
Design-Apart, a platform that brings bespoke Italian design to international customers, launched its first “living showroom” in New York. A 2,500 square-foot Chelsea loft has been custom-outfitted by Design-Apart’s team of top Italian designers and manufacturers of handmade furniture, and embraces the principle that intelligent design is made for use and invites interested New Yorkers to experience artisanal products in a real-life setting.
Now open in the Miami Design District, Adriana Hoyos creates a new shopping experience in its flagship showroom.
Dania Beach, Fla.
During last month’s Fall Market at DCOTA, Rugs by Zhaleh, Ltd. debuted its new showroom in space C170. Collections of fine and modern rugs were put on display for the first time.
Cardenio Petrucci, founder of Dzine, has opened a new concept showroom and lounge titled Dsegnare in San Francisco’s industrial South of Market neighborhood. Housed in an old converted warehouse at 893A Folsom Street, Dsegnare features collections by Walter Knoll, Viccarbe, mdf Italia, Coalesse, Alessi and more.
Last month, Holland & Company celebrated its grand-opening at ADAC and showcased its new collections from Aerin Lauder, McApline Home, Julian Chichester and Robert Brown.
After close to 55 years in business, Paul + Raulet is moving it’s showroom at ADAC to a larger space on the first floor and rebranding to paul. The new showroom will house additional products and new lines.
Schumacher also opened the doors to its brand-new space on the first floor of ADAC.
In February, Donghia will open a brand-new showroom in D.C.’s Cady Alley design district. The new showroom will feature Donghia’s collection of furniture, lighting, accessories and textiles, including pieces from Rubelli and Sacho. The space will be designed by Donghia’s creative director Chuck Chewning.
Also on Rockville Pike (725), Italo Ceramica opened its first US showroom open to both the trade and the retail public. With the new 8,500-square-foot showroom, Italo Ceramica, which has been in business for 17 years, imports tiles from Italy and presents them with specially made LED lights to showcase the striking characteristics of each tile. Italo Ceramica’s adjoining 20,000-square-foot warehouse is stocked at all times, allowing same day delivery as well as by-the-piece returns.
Nest 301 Inspired Interiors has opened a new shop at 11416 Rockville Pike in Rockville, Maryland. The showroom will display the Italian Turri collection of high-end luxury furniture, and many others.
Virginia-based interior designer Victoria Sanchez has opened a brand-new botique titled Victoria at Home in the DC-metro area. The store, located at 1125 King Street in Alexandria, features furnishings and decor that have been selected by Sanchez and represent her casual and elegant style. Notable items that will be available include textiles from Schumacher and Brunschwig & Fils, furniture by Amy Howard Home and accessories by Dana Gibson.
Surya will debut a brand-new 14,000 square-foot-showroom in the Dallas Market Center (Space 5-560) just in time for the Dallas Total Home & Gift Show (Jan. 15 – 21). The showroom will feature Surya’s growing line of high-end rugs, pillows, throws, wall décor, lighting and accent furniture.
Crestron has teamed up with interior designer Louise Bradley to create a new space at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, which will showcase the harmony that can be achieved between interior design and home technology. For the new showroom, Bradley has created an interiors scheme in which Crestron has subtly integrated systems of automated lighting, heating, security, home entertainment and more.
Mayfair Design Studio represents some of the world’s finest manufacturers of high-end interiors and accessories in its new London showroom at 16 Hay Hill in Mayfair. The collections include contemporary furniture from Italian specialists Giorgetti and Ceccotti; eclectic luxury items from Colombo Stile, Arte Veneziana and Reflex Angelo; object d’art from Murano specialist Venini; hand blown chandeliers from 750-year-old glass masters Barovier and Toso; cashmeres from Loro Piana; silk rugs from Sahrai Milano, and wallpaper from Rubelli.
Compagnie Francaise de l’Orient et de la Chine (CFOC) has continued to expand with the renovation of a former store on 260 Boulevard St Germain in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Under the artistic direction of Sarah Lavoine and Francois Schmidt, CFOC has launched a 50-sqaure-meter boutique offering signature pieces from the collections that can be found at the Boulevard Haussmann store including tableware, textiles, candles and lighting.
Also in the Saint Germain district of Paris, Lavoine has launched her own new boutique (28 rue du Bac) which demonstrates her Parisian sense of style and design aesthetic.
Designed by Italian architect Ferruccio Laviani, the close to 200-square-meter Axor: Phillipe Grohe showroom celebrates water and design in its most ambitious form. Next to the elegant, minimalistic style of Italian furniture manufacturer Porro, Axor showcases versatility, innovation and “Made in Germany” quality. With their similar approach to design, both brands have set up a showroom that merges complementary living spaces.
Natuzzi s.p.a. has announced the opening of a new shop in Sydney, Australia, bringing the total number of Natuzzi Italia stores in Australia to seven. The new shop—with an area of 700-square-meters and 27 room settings—is equipped with a station devoted to 3D interior design called Your Design By Natuzzi and Design Studio. This feature allows customers to design and furnish their own homes using a touch screen.
