Nearly 50 new design stores and showrooms to note

It’s been a busy season with more than 50 companies opening new retail stores and trade showrooms across the country and abroad—in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Philadephia, Dallas, Las Vegas, London, Milan, Philippines and Hong Kong. This list is part of an ongoing series of showroom openings by region highlighting new resources available to designers.
New York City
The D&D Building has welcomed a handful of new showrooms—some of which opened for the building’s Spring Market—and others that will open this summer. They include Robert Lighton, Lapicida, Vondom, Made Goods, Thibaut, Biasi Catani and Sherle Wagner. George Smith is also planning a showroom opening later this year. (979 Third Avenue)
  
Colombo Mobili showroom
At the New York Design Center, Colombo Mobili has reopened its flagship showroom. Other new showrooms include Studio A, Bakes & Kropp, Harbour Outdoor Australia, and the New Traditionalists. (200 Lexington Avenue)
DXV by American Standard, a new-spin off luxury bathroom and kitchen brand, opened a flagship showroom that celebrates and draws on the plumbing company’s history, now in its 15th decade. The DXV portfolio, which launched this spring, features more than 70 product and style offerings. (15 West 20th Street)
PID Floors opened a new street-level showroom in hopes to better serve its clients needs and provide the best product selection at the most convenient location. The company’s 3rd floor showroom at 18 West 21st Street is now closed. (5 West 20th Street, Ground Floor)

The rug company Nanimarquina opened a new showroom in SoHo which mimics the Barcelona showroom and office design. The team designed the showroom to be a place where people will enjoy design, surround themselves with color, textures and unique materials and learn about the manufacturing processes of the handmade rugs. Damien Hirst has opened a two-level 3,500-square-foot SoHo boutique, Other Criteria, which serves as the retail arm of the British arts-based publishing company. The showroom features works of art by more than 35 artists. (458 Broome Street)
Design Within Reach opened a new flagship showroom on the Upper East Side just steps away from the D&D Building featuring four stories of modern furniture. (57th Street and Third Avenue)
  
Natuzzi Italia opened its second store in New York City, a 5,000-square-foot corner-situated showroom in the heart of an area that is home to a growing number of designer resources. (105 Madison Avenue)
Los Angeles
The Pacific Design Center welcomed four new showrooms to the building this season including DEDON, Maharam, PERFEC Floors and BEKING Furniture. In addition, Thomas Lavin and David Sutherland have expanded their showroom spaces. (8687 Melrose Avenue)

McKinnon and Harris opened a new flagship showroom in the heart of the La Cienega Design Quarter. The thoughtfully-designed space is the company’s third showroom and highlights the brand’s commitment to the handcrafting of high performance aluminum furniture for estates, gardens and yachts. AUSTERE opened a “magazine you can walk through”—a hybrid showroom, retail and event space featuring 100 of the best examples of contemporary Scandinavian design and innovation selectively curated and contextualized. The space exhibits classic pieces from designers including Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, Jens Quistgaard, Poul Henningsen, Ilmari Tapiovaara, Kaj Franck and Poul Kjærholm, along with contemporary designs from the likes of Teenage Engineering, Stutterheim, Caroline Villard, Alexander Lervik and more. San Francisco

New York-based designer Madeline Weinrib opened a brand-new showroom in the San Francisco Design Center featuring her handmade fabrics, carpets, pillows, accessories and more. (101 Henry Adams Street)
Serena & Lily opened a new showroom concept, the Design Shop, a workspace where both customers and interior designers can experience the brand firsthand, gather free swatches and receive expert design advice on Serena & Lily’s product assortment. (3457 Sacramento Street)
Daltile and the Mohawk Group have teamed up to open a new 10,000-sqaure-foot design studio featuring products from both companies. (212 Utah Street)
Atlanta

Jim Thompson showroom
Many showrooms have opened or expanded within the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) this season. New showrooms include Peacock Alley, Bostan Carpets, R Hughes and Jim Thompson, while Schumacher and Paul+ have expanded to include additional product range and inventory.
Chicago
Kimball Office has partnered with the award-winning San Francisco-based interior design firm Studio O+A to redesign its Chicago showroom—to be revealed later this week during NeoCon. (325 N Wells Street)
Miami

Just blocks away from Biscayne Bay, Italian kitchen company Officine Gullo opened its first US showroom earlier this year. The 3,000-square-foot space features 14-foot ceilings, Siberian plank flooring and a wall of glass, and has been designed to provide an elegant and fully functioning backdrop for the company’s offerings. Philadelphia
Daltile has opened the doors to a new design studio in downtown Philadelphia. The design studio is the first of its kind from Daltile to open in the North East. (2300 Chestnut Street)
Dallas
Arteriors will open a sprawling 5,600-square-foot showroom in the Dallas Design District this fall. The new space will feature floor to ceiling windows, 14-foot ceilings, a rooftop deck and a dramatic entry. A curated selection of accessories will be stocked for immediate purchase and more than 1,200 stocked products in the Arteriors portfolio will be available to order. (1417 Dragon Street)

Artistic Tile has opened a new showroom in Dallas featuring its collections of stone, glass and porcelain tile, as well as vanities and accessories. (1617 Hi Line Drive)
Las Vegas
Just in time for Las Vegas Market (July 29 – August 2), Kravet is opening a 4,684-square-foot showroom in the Las Vegas Design Center featuring fabrics, furniture, wall coverings, trimmings, carpets and accessories. (World Market Center Building A, space A-124)
London

Waterworks has opened a 3,700-square-foot showroom which includes a studio space on its top floor for designers and their clients to come and work at their leisure as well as a lower level which features dozens of tiled vignettes that showcase both Waterworks’ robust surface offerings as well as versatile bath, shower and hardware offerings. Furniture manufacturer Wren Living opened two brand-new showrooms in the London area featuring kitchen, bedroom, living room and dining room furniture as well as home accents and accessories. (St. Johns Centre, Rope Walk, Bedford & Aylesford Retail Park, Quarry Wood)
Christopher Guy is set to open a new showroom in the South Dome of The Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour (DCCH). The new space was designed by Christopher Guy Harrison, CEO and founder of the Christopher Guy brand, and it will feature the recently launched Mademoiselle collection, a home furnishings range inspired by Coco Chanel, among others. Milan

Venetian glassware company Carlo Moretti opened its first dedicated showroom during Milan Design Week. Located in the Brera district, the 1,400-square-foot space features a range of new introductions in tabletop and lighting products designed and produced by Carlo Moretti. (Santo Spirito, 22 Milan)
Philippines
Designer Kenneth Cobonpue opened the first of many showrooms to come in the Philippines. Stylishly housed in a massive two level 5,400-s.f. space, the showroom offers vignettes featuring more than fifty indoor/outdoor options. It's also home to inventive lighting and accessories from sister brand Hive, featuring pieces by a roster of established international designers. (Esparanza Sreet, Manilla)
Hong Kong

Fort Street Studio opened a new Hong Kong flagship showroom in One Island South, the new development by Wharf Holdings Ltd. The 5,000-s.f. space is twice the size of Fort Street Studio's former Quarry Bay showroom. (2 Heung Yip Rd, Aberdeen)
