The results of a consumer survey designed to gauge the impact the recession is having on consumer spending of home furnishings will be announced at Furniture Today's Leadership Conference on Dec. 2 in Naples, Florida. The survey, conducted by HGTV and Furniture Today, netted results from over 8,000 consumers. "The recession and its impact on consumer spending is an issue that everyone talks about, but until now, there didn't seem to be any statistical information that sheds light on this topic," said Ray Allegrezza, Furniture/Today editor-in-chief. "So as part of our mandate to provide our audience with the information they need to be successful in their businesses, our research department partnered with HGTV to field this study." Highlights of the study will be presented by Allegrezza and Debbie Beers, vice president of consumer insights for manufacturer and importer Furniture Brands International. Furniture Today's Leadership Conference will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples. In addition to the research report, the agenda also will include presentations involving retailers including Homemakers, Leon's, Rooms To Go, CSN Stores, City Furniture, HOM, Knoxville Wholesale Furniture and others. According to Allegrezza, this year's theme, Thriving in a Survivor's World, provides a perfect platform for the industry to come together to network and discuss critical industry issues.
