Interior designers and remodelers have the opportunity to win all-expenses-paid trips to Spain and cash prizes by entering their best kitchen remodeling projects in Cosentino North America's Ugly Kitchen Contest. All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. Central Time on Oct. 30, 2009. The Ugly Kitchen Contest includes Small, Medium and Large kitchen categories and is valid only for entries from citizens and permanent residents of the United States of America. The Small Kitchen Category includes kitchens of up to 24 square feet. The Medium Kitchen Category includes kitchens sized from 25 to 49 square feet. The Large Kitchen Category includes kitchens sized from 50 square feet and up. Although designers and remodelers must use Silestone in their projects to qualify for the contest, they have the flexibility to use any Silestone color and texture in their design. Designers can obtain free sample tiles of Silestone in a variety of colors by visiting www.silestoneusa.com. The winner in each of the three contest categories will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Spain for two where -- among other stops -- they will have an opportunity to take an up-close look at how Silestone is made at Cosentino's world headquarters in Macael, Spain. Second and third place winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. Winners will be announced on Nov. 15, 2009. More details and information about the contest can be found at www.silestoneusa.com/contest. Cosentino has assembled a panel of expert judges for the Ugly Kitchen Contest, including Pat Borg, Owner/President of Neff of Chicago in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, and member of Cosentino's Advisory Council. Borg displays both Silestone and the new ECO(TM) by Cosentino countertops in his showrooms. "Customers are very impressed with the appearance and durability of both of these products," commented Borg. "We wholeheartedly recommend Silestone products to all our customers, with both trust and pride." Cosentino originally announced The Ugly Kitchen Contest on July 1, 2009, to correspond with Cosentino's addition of seven new designer colors to its comprehensive Silestone portfolio. The company now has expanded the entry guidelines to allow designers to choose from more than 65 Silestone colors. Earlier this year, Silestone introduced its Silestone Platinum Series(TM), which includes four distinctive metallic color choices that integrate the performance of Silestone's antimicrobial properties and the chic look of stainless steel. Colors available in the Platinum Series include Chrome, Zirconium, Carbono and Steel. Silestone also added three bold new colors: Magenta, Tao and Kenzo. Lorenzo Marquez, Cosentino North America's vice president of marketing, explained the idea behind the Ugly Kitchen Contest: "Cosentino created this contest to encourage designers to focus their skills and experience on transforming outdated kitchens through beautiful, elegant, and state-of-the-art designs. We hope that the offer of nine prizes will serve as an appealing incentive for designers to use Silestone for their near-term remodeling projects. " "Our ongoing commitment to the interior design industry is a driving force for us at Cosentino. Our unparalleled production capacity, coupled with an extensive research and development effort, allows us to have the widest and most reliable quartz color offering across the United States. We've spent the last few years working with designers on developing our product portfolio, and 2009 is the year that we are aggressively bringing these new products into the market," Marquez said.
