NY NOW Market open house to illuminate color trends

The latest design trends will be live and in living color at the open house for NY NOW Market for Home + Lifestyles, which will spotlight 100 products illustrating the four design and color trends as projected by the Pantone Color Institute.
Informed by the PANTONEVIEW home + interiors 2016 color forecast, this year's trends include Bijoux (which in French means "jewels"), and reflects lighting effects as well as transparencies in glass, resins, acrylics and mosaic tile; "Ephemera," which is translated via light pastels; "Footloose," which refers to fun and fancy-free color combinations; and "Mixed Bag," which showcases unusual patterns and prints sourced from international cultures.

Editors from Home Accents Today, Home & Textiles Today, HFN and Gifts and Decorative Accessories picked top products to reflect the essence of each theme. Bijoux is best exemplified by Dsenyo’s Eva clutch, French Farm’s Jean Dubost flatware, the Blue Mani clutch from Infinite Universe, Beautifully Served by Jill utensils and Gail Garcia’s “Chandelier” coaster and trivet, while Ephemera's expressions include R. Expo’s Lotus incense burner, Bella il Fiore’s linen purse pouch, Acacia’s paper necklace, Blazek Glass Morphology’s matte hand-cut crystal lamp and Middle Kingdom Cold Mountain’s tulip vase.
Footloose's aesthetic is embodied in Abbiamo Tutto’s octopus wine bottle holder, Aesthetic Movement F&B’s bocce ball set, Kinaloon’s Magnolia Card, the Jenny train case from Stephanie Johnson and Design Ideas’ crystal flow bowl. The Mixed Bag aesthetic is discovered in Nelles Studio’s Moon Rocket coin bank, aMano Fair Trade’s Madda rug, an Embroidered Peacock journal from Chronicle Books, a quilted African throw from Dsenyo and Circa Asia’s mango wood multicolor serving bowl.
Held August 15 to 19 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the NY NOW Market's three collections include Home, Lifestyle and Handmade and cover 100,000 products in varied categories. This year’s participating firms span the alphabet—from Abbiamo Tutto to Zojirushi—and the colors of the rainbow.
