New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) President Christopher Cyphers has named Dr. Patricia Sovern as Board Chairman, leading the school's 18 directors, and Mrs. Kathleen M. Doyle as new Board member of NYSID.
The following officers were appointed to the board: Jodie W. King, Vice Chair and Secretary; James P. Druckman, Treasurer; and Elliot H. Greene, Chair, Financial Overview Committee.
Dr. Sovern has been a board member at NYSID since 2003. She completed the Harvard University program in Higher Education Management in 1989 and has served on the boards of the American Association of University Administrators and the Association of College and Research Libraries Publications Board. Among her professional honors, she was a Mellon Research Fellow and was awarded a Presidential Chair in the Humanities sponsored by the Mellon Foundation in recognition of distinguished scholarship and dedicated teaching (1983-1986).
Mrs. Doyle is Chairman/CEO of Doyle New York, Auctioneers & Appraisers. She first joined her husband, William J. Doyle, founder of William Doyle Galleries, in 1968, as Director of Jewelry Exhibitions. She later left to pursue graduate studies. She served as Parent Education Specialist at the New York Medical College's Early Childhood Development Center, and, following that, she founded the Parent Education Program in the Department of Pediatrics at St. Vincent's Hospital.
