Emily Pilloton, founder and executive director of Project H Design, will present The Sally Henderson Memorial Lecture on Green Design in conjunction with the New York School of Interior Design’s (NYSID) fifth-annual Green Design Awards presentation, taking place this evening in New York City.
The annual awards ceremony acknowledges and celebrates individuals and businesses for their efforts in protecting the natural environment and supporting sustainability and green design.
Pilloton founded Project H to use design to empower people and to get her hands dirty after too many years in an office. She trained in architecture (UC Berkeley) and product design (School of Art Institute of Chicago), and practices and teaches design as “activism for community benefit.” She has appeared on the Colbert Report and the TED stage as well as authored the books Design Revolution and Tell Them I Built This: Transforming Schools, Communities, and Lives With Design-Based Education.
