Restoration Hardware unveils 600+ page publication
Aug 26, 2011

A new print magazine from Restoration Hardware showcases the most complete expression of the brand to date and represents an emerging trend of custom publishing as a marketing tool.
The magazine features original editorial profiles by independent journalists and celebrated photographers that share the stories of a select group of internationally-recognized designers and craftsmen who bring unmatched passion and artistry to the company’s latest designs.

“It’s our largest ever Source Book/Magalog/Catalog,” said Chairman and Co-CEO Gary Friedman.  “At 616 pages we’re not quite sure what to call it.”
The Real Ironman, an article featuring San Francisco Blacksmith Jefferson Mack—who turns scraps of steel into beautiful works of art for the hearth—is photographed by Alex Farnum with sparks flying in his San Francisco workshop. World-renowned rug designer and merchant, Ben Soleimani, is profiled in “Dreamweaver” and brings the perspective of a contemporary artist to an ancient art form with his exclusive collection of over 50 handmade carpets. Former British rugby player Timothy Oulton—who brings the storied Richards’ Trunks to life—reveals how he reinvents antiques with meticulous care in “The Reproductionist.” And in “The Master of Linen,” photographer Mikkel Vang follows Libeco-Lagae CEO Raymond Libeert, into the fields of Belgium where he upholds farm stewardship traditions established generations ago to make the world’s finest linen for his family business established in 1858.
Through dramatic wall compositions, unexpected materials, an imaginative use of lighting, and architecturally inspired installations of furniture, the Fall 2011 Source Book expresses a new and evolving approach to designing a home. The Resource Guide—located in the back of the book and modeled in the spirit of a trade publication with product conveniently grouped by category—establishes this as the most complete presentation of lighting (88 pages), furniture (50 pages) and rugs (72 pages) on the market today. Here, decorating essentials such as a comprehensive collection of Edison-style filament bulbs, and exclusive lines of bath hardware, hearth, window hardware and drapery can also be found.
The Fall 2011 Source Book is available digitally and via the Restoration Hardware iPad App now. And printed copies are meant for a long shelf life.
“We ask that you hang on to it, as we do our part to support conservation and won’t be sending you another one until next spring,” says Friedman.
