Rejoice, design enthusiasts! You now have two new tomes from SANDOW to pore over: a 465-page softcover book featuring homes across the country and a book with some of the best examples of education, museum and theater design across the globe.
The Luxury of Home, slated to be an annual publication covering high-end home design and luxury real estate in 23 markets across the U.S., features work selected by local design firms—from architects to interior designers to landscape specialists.
“Through its magazines, Luxe Interiors + Design, Interior Design and Worth, as well as its private airport newsstand network MediaJet, SANDOW has unparalleled access to both the real estate and design community, as well as high-net-worth individuals and private jet travelers,” said Mike Ruskin, president of MediaJet, who oversaw the book's creation. “There really isn't an in-depth annual resource covering high-end home design in various markets across the U.S. and we saw an opportunity to enter that market and provide design professional access to our coveted audience.”
Each chapter opens with a real estate expert offering insight on design and real estate trends in his or her market. Featured experts include New York interior designer Jennifer Post, luxury Beverly Hills realtors at Hilton & Hyland, Chicago interior designer Tom Stringer, Palm Beach landscape architect Mario Nievera and Hamptons builder Ben Krupinski.
Each design firm featured in The Luxury of Home paid to be featured, but was vetted by SANDOW first.
“The team that produced The Luxury of Home hand-picked each realtor, design pro, landscape specialist, etc.,” said Ruskin. “We had to turn away some interested parties whom we didn’t feel were of the level we sought for this project.”
Thirty thousand copies of The Luxury of Home can be found in 200 private airports across North America, as well as in select Barnes & Noble locations and in a few other markets where Luxe Interiors + Design is sold. The publication retails for $19.95.
In addition, Interior Design magazine has released Best of Education & Culture, an international compendium of extraordinary institutional design by leaders in the field.
“Some of the most innovative and creative design work today is being done in institutions of learning, places of worship, summer camps and science labs—fostering community and enriching the lives of its occupants,” said Interior Design Editor in Chief Cindy Allen. “With Best of Education & Culture, we celebrate groundbreaking institutional design.”
As part of the magazine’s Best of book series (which also includes Best of Residential, Best of Hospitality and Best of Office), this oversized, hardcover tome spotlights 50 projects in 10 different countries and features projects of varying scale and locale—from a Torah-inspired synagogue in New York, to a technology-driven research facility in Antarctica.
This compilation contains more than three million square feet of design and is filled with projects from notable designers, including Interior Design Hall of Fame members Deborah Berke, Shigeru Ban and Rand Elliot.
The book is divided into seven chapters, each focusing on different types of institutions: visual arts, performing arts, libraries, youth, higher education, science/technology and sacred spaces. Project coverage includes galleries, museums, studios, theaters, camps, dormitories, student centers, research labs, churches, synagogues and more.
Best of Education & Culture is available now on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and in select bookstores across the country for $49.95.
