This season, designers and showrooms are giving their time, talent and money to a number of charity organizations in the name of good design and good will. Below is a roundup of projects and designers helping to make the world a better place.

Ronald McDonald House of Long Island Phase I, Room by Drew McGukin
Phase II of “Project Design” is underway and 40 interior designers are hard at work creating beautiful, calming spaces for the residents of Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. The effort began through a partnership with Kravet and NYC&G (New York Cottages & Gardens) last summer, where more than 20 interior designers made over rooms and common spaces for children suffering from terminal illnesses and their families. Phase II will be completed and unveiled at an opening gala on Thursday, October 9. Estimated donation: More than $2 million in design, labor and materials.
Habitat for Humanity has attracted several home furnishings brands to its cause. Over the past two years, Wayfair has contributed more than $500,000 to to build and rehabilitate affordable homes. In addition to financial support, the online retailer provides volunteer efforts and donates home furnishings to the projects. Duralee was a sponsor for Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County’s 25th Anniversary Gala, and matched $25,000 of other patron’s donations.

Dwell with Dignity helped an Atlanta family (a single mom and two sons, ages 5 and 10) in need by inviting designers Brian Patrick Flynn and Kerry Howard to redecorate her apartment. "I'm still floating and in a place of peace thanks to Dwell with Dignity,” she shared. She was nominated by Buckhead Christian MInistry (BCM), which has a mission to provide emergency and housing assistance to individuals and families of all faiths, in particular addressing the needs of low-income workers and helping them to achieve stability.
Surya has donated funds to help three veterans receive three months of therapeutic treatment through the Veteran Pain Program’s “Helping 100 Veterans in 100 Days” initiative. The program is a part of Minnesota-based BFW Charities, which provides medical grants to military veterans to help them access the treatment necessary to relieve chronic pain and lead productive lives.

Palecek team in San Remeo, Cebu, Philippines
At the start of the year, PALECEK made a donation to help the community of San Remeo, Cebu, Philippines recover from the devastating aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. In a province, where many of the structures were destroyed by the storm, the funds donated by PALECEK were immediately utilized to rebuild a public school that was damaged beyond use. “It is difficult to see all of the catastrophic destruction caused by the typhoon and it is clear significant aid is still needed from the international community for this region to recover,” said Andrew Palecek, Vice President of PALECEK. “As a company, it is important for us to invest in the people here and ensure school facilities are safe and conducive environments for education.”
Interior designer Tim Campbell of Studio Tim Campbell traveled to Mozambique with Dr. Lee Miller, Director of Global Health Education Programs at the UCLA Center for World Health, who provides training for physicians and other healthcare providers in the region. Cambell will be chairing a fundraiser for Lee’s foundation, Partners for Pediatric Progress, in October 2015 along with designers Amanda Brown and Justin Chang, and One Kings Lane.
Publicolor teamed up with Benjamin Moore to celebrate their unique, long-term partnership with a day of mentoring and painting at a Bronx middle school. Benjamin Moore donated eco-friendly paint and its employees painted the school alongside the students. The paint company also sponsors 50 students in Publicolor’s Next Steps Program, a three-day-a-week college and career preparatory program for 11th and 12th graders and college students.

Architect and Ferrari Creative Director Flavio Manzoni traveled to the United States from Italy earlier this spring to present Madreterra, his charitable project with Leucos USA, benefitting flood victims in Sardinia. Manzoni also unveiled his version of Lecuos' oversized Great JJ light, which is set to be auctioned off for the cause.
