The annual State of Design Festival is an initiative with a mission to increase the awareness of the value of design, showcase how design generates innovation, promote sustainability, and adds value to business and society.
The Festival's 2010 theme 'Change by Design' encourages you to consider design possibilities that can have a positive effect on one's home, work and community, plus be good for the environment.
By communicating to Australian and international audiences, the Festival promotes a deeper understanding of design capability and value. The 2010 State of Design Festival will take place from July 14 – 25 throughout metropolitan Melbourne, and regional centres around Victoria. More than 130,000 people are expected to experience one or more of the 75 events across the Festival’s four main programs: Design Capital, Design for Everyone; Design:Made:Trade, and Premier’s Design Awards.
The Festival programs demonstrate and broadly communicate how the Victorian and Australian design profession can improve living conditions, create sustainable development opportunities, and generate new and innovative products and services; in turn, providing economic benefit for the state of Victoria.
