Stéphane Parmentier collaborates with Christofle on flagship
Sep 11, 2012

Christofle has unveiled its global flagship boutique at 846 Madison Avenue in New York by interior designer, architect and former fashion designer Stéphane Parmentier. The new flagship reflects both the storied past of the brand and nods to the evolving collection and designer collaborations.

Christofle’s legendary designer partners include: Emile Galle, Man Ray, Christian Fjerdingstad, international silversmith Lino Sabattini, Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and Gio Ponti. Modern designers include Andree Putman, Clara Halter, Richard Hutton, Karim Rashid, Claudio Collucci, Shinsuke Kawahara and Marcel Wanders.
In celebration of the new global flagship boutique, Christofle has commissioned three unique, limited-edition silver trays which will be only available for purchase at the new boutique. The three trays reflect original designs by Mrzyk & Moriceau, Stéphane Parmentier and Charles Barsotti that were engraved in Christofle’s Haute Orfèvrerie workshops in Normandy, France. There are 54 editions of each tray created, a reference to the first Christofle boutique to open in New York, 54 years ago.
“My vision was to create a boutique for Christofle that is truly the embodiment of a new, subtle luxury,” said Parmentier, “A space that is atmospheric and residential and at once representative of the French spirit, steeped in modernity as well as tradition and a celebration of legacy and craftsmanship.”
Parmentier began his career in fashion working for Lanvin, Hervé Léger and Karl Lagerfeld. He then became art director for the Givenchy and Montana ready-to-wear collections. In 2000, he traded in his dress form for a drawing board, founding his own interior architecture agency. He became an instant globetrotter, working in Paris, London and Miami. Recently, he was appointed art director for the home furnishings division of Printemps department store and is working on the renovation of the Orange headquarters in Paris. His latest creations were shown last November at Themes & Variations, a gallery in London.
