Twenty-three UK projects vie for best new house
Jul 1, 2014

This year, 23 homes make up the “long list” of finalists for the RIBA’s Manser Medal, which is awarded every year to the best new house designed by an architect in the United Kingdom. The winner will be announced at the RIBA Stirling Prize ceremony on Thursday, October 16. The prize was created in 2001 to celebrate excellence in housing design and was named to honor Michael Manser CBE, a designer of exceptional homes and former RIBA President.
“The 2014 RIBA Manser Medal long list reveals the most innovative, sustainable and beautiful new homes to have been completed in the past year," said Stephen Hodder, President of RIBA. "The exciting line-up is a testimony to the wonderful talent and achievements of some of the UK's best architects."
This year’s judges are Manser; Robert Hiscox, Honorary President of Hiscox; Lady Patty Hopkins and Carl Turner, the 2013 recipients of the Manser Medal; and Tony Chapman, RIBA Head of Awards.
