Veranda Editor in Chief Dara Caponigro to step down
May 16, 2013

After three years at the helm of Veranda magazine, editor-in-chief Dara Caponigro has decided to step down in the fall.
"She is helping in the search for VERANDA’s next editor-in-chief. We wish her the very best," said Newell Turner, Editorial Director, Hearst Design Group.

"Being the editor in chief of VERANDA has been a dream job and I’m deeply grateful to Hearst for having given me this opportunity," said Caponigro. "I’m extremely proud of what my colleagues and I have accomplished with the magazine and the brand. I look forward to VERANDA's continued success as I step aside to spend more time with my family."
Former Hearst President Cathleen P. Black hired Caponigro in April 2010 to replace Veranda's founder and then editor-in-chief Lisa Newsom. Caponigro was a founding editor of Condé Nast's Domino, where she was style director from 2004 to 2009. She spent 12 years at House Beautiful in a variety of editorial positions, including southern editor within the design and decoration department. Caponigro also created and owned a business dealing in European antiques. She began her career at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum.
