Peter Ciaccia will be presented with the Justin P. Allman Award at the Wallcoverings Association (WA)'s annual convention awards reception January 30, 2012 in Delray Beach, Florida.
The Justin P. Allman Award is named after the founder and president of the Wallcoverings Wholesalers Association, the predecessor to WA. Individuals are nominated for the award based on their dedication and contributions to the wallcoverings industry. Ciaccia will receive his official award and be honored as a distinguished guest of the 2012 WA Annual Convention.
“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” Ciaccia said. “My career in wallcoverings has been extremely fulfilling, largely thanks to the people I have the privilege to work with throughout the industry. As the fifth employee of Brewster Home Fashions to receive the award, I am humbled to be included among the leaders who have received this honor.”
Ciaccia has long been recognized as a visionary in wallcoverings. He came to Brewster in 1984 as its controller, and worked his way up to his current role as Treasurer/CFO and COO. Along the way, Ciaccia helped Brewster grow nationally and internationally. Ciaccia maintains his CPA credential, and has used his financial and operational expertise to oversee Brewster’s acquisition of various companies. He led Brewster’s expansion into China in 1995. His pioneering efforts serve as a model of deliberate and thoughtful growth for other wallcovering companies.
Ciaccia continues to see opportunities for growth throughout the wallcovering industry. He advises companies to not be afraid to go into new markets, and is a strong advocate of international expansion.
Ciaccia has served WA in a wide variety of roles over the years. He is proud to have been a member of the WA board of directors for seven years, serving two terms as WA president. He has also served as the chair of the statistics committee. In addition to his work with the WA, he has also served on the board of the Global Wallcoverings Association (IGI) in Brussels, Belgium, as well as the Gravure Association of America (GAA).
“Peter has been a true pioneer in the wallcovering industry,” said Chris Mundschenk, WA executive director. “His business leadership and dedication to the betterment of the industry make him a worthy recipient of such a distinguished award.
In addition to loving his work in the wallcovering industry, Pete enjoys spending time with his wife, and his son’s and daughter’s families, especially his three grandchildren. He also enjoys a good game of golf, even though he claims he’s not good at it yet. He’ll have another chance to improve his technique in January, when he comes to Delray Beach to accept his award and contribute to the WA Annual Convention.
