Mar 18, 2015

Interior designer Susan Zises Green hosted the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in celebration of the launch of the national estate sale drive, an initiative to raise funds for animal welfare. Zises Green cohosted with famed architect and designer Robert Couturier as well as her daughter Lynn Zises. Zises cofounded WebThriftStore with her husband Doug Krugman.

Guests brought donated items to the cocktail reception, where ASPCA President and CEO Matt Bershadker spoke about the organization’s work across the country, and specifically within New York, where the ASPCA has teamed up with the NYPD to provide better protection to animals, and to better enforce animal cruelty laws. He also mentioned the organization’s New York City kitten nursery, and South Los Angeles spay/neuter facility.

Couturier, who adopted a dog from the ASPCA, also spoke about the rescue work done by the organization. His Shih Tzu, Dora, had been found beaten, starved and matted, and was brought back to health by the efforts of the ASPCA.

The estate sale drive is a national effort and is especially soliciting donations of furnishings and home items. The New York City event was the first of several planned across the country, including Los Angeles and Palm Beach.
Donated items will soon be available for purchase on WebThriftStore.com.
