The Design Assistant Position will involve all aspects of the design process with a focus on assisting the Principal and other designers with project management.
The Design Assistant Position role will consist of the following day-to-day activities (but not limited to):
-Research interior products and request vendor quotes for fabrics/furniture/lighting/accessories
-After appropriate training, create proposals and purchase orders in Studio Webware
-The individual will assist in the development of design solutions for review
-Support business development activities through assistance with aids such as PowerPoint presentations, Photoshop concept boards, AutoCAD furniture plans and drawings
-Perform site survey and documentation
-Create and maintain detailed budgets
-Create schedules for lighting, accessories, installations, etc
-Produce and maintain client action-item lists and installation schedules
-Take detailed design notes and distribute meeting notes
-Job site supervision at installations
-Coordinate deliveries and handle post installation follow up activities
-Maintain resource library and office appearance
-Manage calendars; projects, tasks, etc.
-Errands as necessary related to the office, project, etc.
-Merchandise Mart returns
-Office supply orders
-Answering phones and taking messages
-Exhibit close attention to detail in every capacity
-Ability to multitask on action items for multiple projects at a time
-Assist in marketing efforts and website updates
-Provide design, clerical and administrative support to interior designers
-Maintain knowledge of space planning and elevations
-Additional duties incidental to the job description
Applicants must be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, InDesign, Photoshop. Studio Webware and Illustrator experience is a plus. Potential hire must be an independent self starter, highly organized and highly detail oriented. This individual must be motivated with superb communication skills both written and oral. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-based, client-focused design environment. Must be literate and passionate about design.
