Public Relations and Events Specialist

Location: Flexibility on specific location. Ideal candidate would be based on the East Coast.

Position Type: Public Relations, Marketing, Event Planning


The main function of the Public Relations and Events Specialist is to effectively communicate all aspects of our brand through strategic partnerships with appropriate media to create awareness, reinforcement and demand. In addition to managing the national/regional public relations and editorial initiatives, this position will oversee and produce the brand's special events on a national/regional basis. The Public Relations and Events Specialist will collaborate with various team members on key objectives, including: high-profile campaigns, product launches, special events, influencer relationships and brand partnerships.

Job Requirements


The ideal candidate will possess high-level written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and budgeting proficiencies. Prior PR and/or Special Events experience is a must. Travel is required to headquarters and Signature Stores.

In addition, this candidate will possess the following traits:

Bachelor degree in marketing, communications or other related field, preferred.
1-3+ years of experience in a public relations OR event planning related role
Ability to build and maintain close working relationships with target media including national/regional editors, producers, reporters, writers, bloggers and key influencers. Continue to gain positive recognition nationwide by promoting our brand through a steady drumbeat of product placements, feature stories, news and third party endorsements that demonstrate MG+BW's ethos/product range across audiences and initiatives.
Ability to oversee and write all press materials including spring/fall seasonal market press kits. Other written materials include but are not limited to: press releases, pitch letters, bios, backgrounders, interview answers, trend reports, speeches, etc.
Experience fostering relationships with key brand partners: editors, publishers, marketing, social media and event personnel.
Ability to constantly identify new editorial media opportunities and conceive relevant and attention-grabbing pitch ideas.
Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to present PR activities/plans at internal meetings.
Ability to identify, conceive, strategize, and produce on-going schedule of grand openings, special events and seasonal launch events at the retail level as well as other event/sponsorship opportunities.
Manage all aspects of event execution: timeline, collateral, guest list, contracts, vendor relations, budget & post event analysis.
Capture and obtain pre and post event publicity coverage.

Additional Responsibilities
Act as company spokesperson/ambassador always ensuring proper brand messaging.
Work with set decorators on feature films/TV placements develop, maintain and maximize these relationships.
Identify and seek interview opportunities for company co-founders arrange and schedule.
Identify and work with influencers/bloggers/celebrities on design projects aligning closely with internal social media team/external agency.
Manage budgets and internal reporting to measure key performance indicators.

Attend key industry events around the country.
Attend bi-annual High Point Furniture market for both wholesale and retail markets and present new collections/products to
the media. Schedule all one-on-one media appointments during markets.
