KBIS ushers in new kitchen-bath innovations this week

Gaggenau, Ann Sacks and Artistic Tile are just a few of the industry innovators appearing at The National Kitchen & Bath Show, which is currently unfolding in Orlando and bringing with it the latest in kitchen and bath upgrades, innovations and gadgets. Below, we tally some of this year’s most compelling introductions. 


Kohler's Veil Freestanding Bath

Eco-friendlier Toilets, Shagreen Sinks and Smart Mirrors
Kohler, which received the National Kitchen & Bathroom Association Chairman’s Award at the show, debuted a number of new products: three toilet innovations, including the Veil Intelligent Wall-Hung Toilet, the water-saving Highlight 1.0-Gallon Toilet and the C3-155 Cleansing Seat toilet; Verdera Lighted Mirrors and Medicine Cabinets, designed with input from multiple focus groups that helped determine the ideal lighting level for bathrooms; a new shagreen-style round bathroom sink; a digital shower interface; a rain-inspired Real Rain Panel, a shower head designed to mimic a downpour; and an array of freestanding baths. The brand also introduced new kitchen accessories and faucets.

Featured Faucet Technology 
LIXIL Americas, which includes American Standard, DXV and GROHE, premiered products including a new self-cleaning toilet, a kitchen faucet with foot control and a smart toilet with bidet. “We are pleased to once again showcase the aligned synergies and innovations of the American Standard, DXV and GROHE brands at KBIS,” says Steven Delarge, CEO and president of LIXIL Americas. “These iconic plumbing leaders—operating under the LIXIL Americas division—represent sophisticated, inspirational design for consumers, combined with exceptional performance and inventive technologies that continue to raise the standard in the kitchen and bath industry.”

Concrete, Art Deco and Stone
Some of the new introductions from Ann Sacks include a concrete collection by Itai Bar-On, available in white, gray and black; Paire, a three-design line comprised of stone and brass; and Ermanno, an art deco–inspired porcelain tile. 


Trellis Collection by Belwith-Keeler

Also at the show yesterday, Belwith-Keeler released eight collections of decorative cabinet hardware designed for kitchen and bath, each inspired by 20th-century American craftsmanship. “For more than 120 years, Belwith has been providing customers exceptional product and services,” shares Tim Emmitt, president of the brand. “Our in-house artisans and design team have cultivated trends to bring architects and designers a sophisticated luxury hardware brand that features an expert fit and finish.”

Patterns Abound
Artistic Tile is debuting an array of new product, including the Charleston Hexagon, a mirror finished with beveled and frosted edges, and the Peony style, which takes its flowery influence from Chinese culture and Greek mythology and features gold and bronze highlights and etched marble. Other debuts include a number of designs from jewelry and object designer Michael Aram’s tile collection.

Oven, Espresso and Cooktop Updates From Europe 
Iconic German kitchen brand Gaggenau debuted four notable introductions, including the first dishwasher with back-wall illumination; a fully automatic espresso machine; a flex induction cooktop; and the EB 333 oven, a re-imagination of the brand’s original 36-inch-wide oven, with features like a stainless steel door, an updated lighting concept and a touch display.

Tech-Influenced Kitchen Upgrades
German brand Liebherr introduced new upgrades this year, including its redesigned refrigerators with built-in bio-fresh drawers, as well as wine fridges.

Furniture and architectural component brand Häfele America Co. debuted a number of new lines, including Fineline Kitchen Accessories, drawing on warm woods and metal finishes; Loox LED lighting, a custom lighting system designed for the kitchen that relies on tech like motion-detection lights within drawers and cabinets; and a new drawer system.
