Rubelli 2014 Fabric Collection: A Stiller Life
The collection is inspired by the artistic concept of the ‘still life’ where the simple positioning of contrasting, everyday items creates a beautiful aesthetic so that the home becomes a thoughtful curated space. Within the 2014 collection, traditional materials are reinvented with the introduction of contemporary components. In Lady Hamilton, metallic yarns interwoven with luminous satin silk modernizes the elegant arrangement of flowers, foliage and lace – a decoration typical of the English brocades from the first half of the eighteenth century. Traditional silks are also infused with metallic threads in order to breathe new life into historic designs. In Venier, texture taken from an original aged velvet in the celebrated Rubelli archive is reintroduced with metallic yarns to create the sense of a noble past in a modern fabric.
